Step 6

My prayer is for a willing heart,Christian Writing MInistry
I believe that’s the place to start,
Make me willing from within,
To let go of my defects and sin.

To give them to you for you to heal,
Straight-up, no strings, without a deal.
My previously developed coping skills
I now exchange for Your will.

Mold me, shape me and purify me,
Put me through the refiner’s fire.
To live a life like Jesus Christ,
This is my true desire.

The process is painful, this I know,
But, serenity is on the other side,
Your blessings You freely bestow,
To those willing to give up their pride.

I Am Thankful For

Christian Writing MinistryI’m thankful for God’s healing grace,
For being able to seek His face,
For His unconditional love,
That comes so freely from above.

For the spiritual eyes He’s given me,
That allows me to clearly see,
The works He does every day,
His awesome and His gentle way.

The blessings He’s put in my life,
To rid me of burdens and of strife.
The transformations He’s continually doing,
The lives He saves and is pursuing.

For the bondage’s He’s broken from me,
The feelings of being truly free.
The peace and joy from within,
That comes from walking daily with Him.

Discipline

Discipline

I don’t want to live my life in sin,
But, I’m having a hard time with discipline.
I do the things I don’t want to do,
And don’t do the things I want to.

To die to self and pick up my cross,
All I have gained, to count as loss,
Is the hardest thing I’ll ever do,
But God’s my strength, He’ll see me through.

I’m slowly gaining confidence,
With this journey to obedience.
Walking through the desert, I won’t groan,
Because I know I’m not walking alone.

I have a Savior who holds my hand,
And leads me to the promised land.
Pressing forward, forgetting the past,
Thank you Lord, I’m free at last!!

Emmaus Walk

Christian Writing MinistryJourneying down the Emmaus road,
Jesus joined me to share my load.
And though my eyes recognized Him not,
He was the Savior that I sought.

With Him, my troubles, I openly shared,
Gentle eyes and tender words showed me He cared.
He explained the scriptures, beginning to end,
So that I could easily comprehend.

As we walked, I listened and I learned,
Within me, I felt my heart burn.
Later He took the bread and it was broken,
Then I recognized Him, my eyes were open.

He walks with each of us every day,
It’s up to us the role He will play
Master, Savior, Shepherd and friend,
He’s everything to me, with Him there’s no end.

Intimacy

Christian Writing Ministry“Into me see” creates real fear,
For it will reveal all I hold dear.
Searching inside me with a flashlight,
All my dark corners being brought into sight.

Don’t know if it’s past hurts left unhealed,
That makes me want to keep my heart sealed.
Or if it’s love for myself that I lack,
That causes me to keep holding back.

If just for a moment I could see,
Myself the way that Jesus sees me.
What an amazing awakening it would bring,
To see the righteous child of the King.

To personally experience that awesome love,
And gentle peace that comes from above.
My life would never be the same
Being flooded with love in Jesus’ name.

He Still Can Move a Stone

Christian writing ministryEaster 1997, what does it mean to me?
Two thousand years ago, Jesus died to set me free.
God in human form crucified on the cross,
The blood of the Lamb shed for me, was the cost.

God sent His Son to die, so we could live,
This is the ultimate gift He could give.
Why did He do this I sometimes wonder?
So we’d no longer have “the law” to live under.

We have free will, we’re given a choice,
We have thoughts, decisions and opinions to voice.
We’re given life or death to choose,
One we win, the other – we lose.

Things were made simple when Jesus came,
We’re now saved by grace, not the works we claim.
He gave a new commandment that was simply to love,
Our neighbor as ourselves and with everything God above.

He died a death like that of a thief,
His mother and John watched in their grief.
They laid Him in a rich man’s grave,
So all us sinners could be saved.

And with His resurrection, Jesus went home,
To sit with God on the right hand of the throne.
Throughout this land He wants it to be known,
Trust Him with our lives, He still can move a stone.

God’s Puppet

Christian Writing Ministry“I surrender all” is what I sing
But am I willing to be God’s puppet on a string?
To let go of all my fear and to trust,
To be obedient to the Spirit, it’s a must.

Months ago, on the altar, I put my shoes.
To signify that what He says, I will do.
Since then, my life has not been the same,
I’m no longer playing that old fleshly game.

The Lord is continually working with me,
Floating things to the surface for me to see.
Then we work on the issues together,
My character defects, He helps me to sever.

He’s pouring out the old and filling me with the new,
The pain that accompanies it, He helps me with that too.
He’s truly my Master with a plan for my life
To ease my burdens and rid me of strife.

My sins are gone, as far as the east is to the west,
In my Heavenly Father’s arms, I have finally found rest.
I’m dying to self, becoming a new creature in Christ
Because before He knew me, He died to pay the price.

Doug and Rebecca

God has joined you two as one
And so, a new journey has begun.
To travel together as man and wife,
This journey is meant to be for life.

You’ve started out so unique,
I know it’s a quality you will keep.
On the wedding float you did ride,
Only one more ceremony left to survive!

One in December, the other in May,
The best for both of you, I do pray,
Your creativity I so admire,
Of you two, I will never tire.

And so I wish you both the best,
As you pursue in life your quest.
Your marriage will truly be blessed,
When in God’s arms you do rest.
